The exterior base of the bag (which becomes the underside of the blanket when laid flat) is made from a water-resistant, durable canvas material. Sand shakes off it easily with a quick flick. While it works perfectly on damp grass or beach sand without soaking through, it is water-resistant rather than entirely rubber-waterproof, so you'll want to avoid laying it directly over active puddles.

Because the bag gathers together like a bundle or a pouch when you pull the straps, there are small gaps at the top edges where the fabric cinches.

For bulkier items (towels, clothes, books, water bottles, large snack containers), everything stays perfectly secure.

For tiny items (loose coins, keys, or a lip balm), it is best to slip them into a small pouch or pocket inside your clothing before bundling up the bag, just to make sure they don't slide through the corner gaps when the bag moves around.

or regular cleanups: A quick wipe down with a damp cloth or a rinse under a tap handles sand, dirt, or minor spills easily.

For a deep clean, It can be washed in a standard washing machine. It is best to use a cold, gentle cycle (30°C / 85°F) and let it air dry rather than putting it in a hot dryer. This preserves the water-resistant coating on the canvas.

The thick cord straps run through the entire perimeter of the bag, distributing weight evenly. It is structurally very strong and can easily support the weight of heavy beach towels, multiple books, a full picnic lunch, or a heavy load of groceries. The only constraint is your own shoulder comfort, as heavily packed cords can dig in slightly if carried over very long walking distances.
